Meet the AquaBuddies
We are a team of like minded people that are industry qualified and maintain a high level of training and development. This includes up to date CPR & First Aid certificate.
All of the AquaBuddies are required to complete a number of hours at the Wairoa school pool before they can travel to people’s homes.
The AquaBuddies have a diverse range of skills and experience teaching children of all ages, however we all value the importance of teaching small groups and making a connection with all of our swimmers.
What we value...
BRING MAGIC & SMILES
Be playful, bring humour, use imagination and creativity.
TEACH WITH PURPOSE
Insist on perfect practice and correct mistakes, maximise practice time, and make instructions clear. Celebrate achievements.
BE A WATER PARENT
Treat each child equally. Be fair yet firm. Use commonsense and positive praise. Exercise patience.
BECOME A CHAMELEON
Adapt to what presents. Keep lesson plans flexible. View things in the eyes of others.
MINDFULNESS MATTERS
Be reliable and commit to the team. Connect and learn from each other.
ONGOING TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Keep learning and developing to bring the best to our students.
“I still get a thrill every time I see a child swim on their own for the first time. It’s the most rewarding moment and reinforces why we do what we do”
Bianca
Bianca began AquaBuddies Swim School in 2009 with the initial vision to provide a service for families with home swimming pools. The aim was to give parents a service that would encourage children to learn about swimming and water safety in an environment where they are most exposed – at home!
She wanted to create an environment that was conducive to learning how to swim and develop water safety. Commercial swimming pools are noisy & busy environments with lots of distractions. This can often be an overwhelming experience for a small child, so the aim was to reduce the time & stress of getting to the pool for lessons. The instructor would come to you instead!
In 2011 Bianca acquired pool space at the Wairoa School in North Bondi. It was the perfect venue to continue teaching small class sizes in a boutique environment. Bianca developed the AquaBuddies Approach that caters to children aged 3-10years. The AquaBuddies is a team of likeminded instructors that share in the AquaBuddies Swim School values. Bianca works closely with each instructor and provides continuous training and development in the latest industry methods and the AquaBuddies approach.
“We are passionate about teaching children how to swim in an environment that is positive and encouraging. We use a progressive method that builds upon each skill set and lays the foundations for strong, confident little swimmers.” Bianca is an Ex National swimmer, having trained for a decade under Karen Moras Stephenson and Ruth Everuss. Although she no longer competes, she is passionate about children’s learn to swim and Infant Aquatics. Bianca studied a bachelor of Business Administration/Commerce & Accounting and spent 8years working in the corporate sector before the birth of her eldest son, which led her back to the pool. Bianca is an Austswim Qualified instructor and assessor with a specialisation in Infant & Preschool Aquatics and Competitive strokes.
