Private Swimming Lessons

One-on-one lessons tailored to your child

Private swimming lessons give your child the undivided attention of a qualified instructor for the full 30 minutes. No sharing, no waiting, no distractions. Just focused, personalised instruction built around exactly where your child is right now and where you want them to get to.

Whether your child needs extra support to build water confidence, wants to accelerate their progress between group lessons, or simply learns better one on one, private lessons are the fastest and most targeted way to improve.

Who Are Private Lessons For?

Parents commonly choose private lessons for children who are nervous or anxious in the water and need a gentler, more patient approach, have a specific skill to focus on such as freestyle technique or breathing, or simply learn better without other children in the class.

Private lessons are also popular for children wanting to accelerate progress between group lessons, prepare for school swimming carnivals or squad entry, or catch up after missing time due to illness or holidays.

Private lessons are available at both AquaBuddies locations, subject to instructor availability. If you are not sure whether private or group lessons are the better fit, get in touch and we will help you decide.

How Private Lessons Work

All private lessons run for 30 minutes and are delivered by a qualified AquaBuddies instructor at either our Coogee or Bondi pool. Your instructor will assess your child at the start and structure each session around specific needs and goals.

Private lessons are booked directly with our team and are subject to instructor availability. We recommend getting in touch to discuss scheduling before booking. Semi-private lessons (two children sharing) are also available if you would like to organise lessons with a sibling or friend. The second family is required to be arranged by you before booking.

Private Swimming Lesson FAQs

How do I book a private lesson?

Private lessons are not booked through the online portal. Contact us directly by email or phone and we will confirm availability with you before setting up your booking.

What is the difference between private and semi-private?

A private lesson is one child with one instructor for the full 30 minutes. A semi-private lesson has two children sharing the session. Semi-private is a great option for siblings or friends at a similar level. You will need to organise the second child yourself before contacting us to book.

Can I book private lessons as a one-off or do I need to commit to a term?

Private lessons can be arranged as a block of sessions or on an ongoing weekly basis dependent on availability. Speak to us about what suits your situation.

Do you cater to children with additional needs or a fear of water?

Yes. Our small class sizes (maximum 3 children per group, or maximum 6 families in the Baby & Toddler classes) mean instructors can give each child individual attention. For children with significant anxiety, sensory sensitivities or additional needs, private lessons are often the best starting point. Contact us to discuss your child's situation before booking.
